Art Bar Poetry Series The Art Bar is Canada's longest running poetry-only reading series. Held every Tuesday night at the Victory Cafe, it is now in it's fourteenth year of featuring both emerging and established poets. As series' Director, I co-ordinate each evening's events. Except for the occasional special event or theme night, the Art Bar has three featured poets each enjoying a twenty minute set followed by an open-stage of up to ten readers. Poets from across Canada present their work to an audience of 50 to 100 people and, if published, have books available for purchase. The Art Bar is sponsored by the Canada Council of the Arts, The Toronto Arts Council, The League of Canadian Poets and The Writers' Union of Canada. Admission is free though a hat is passed for voluntary donations. These donations are used to pay the featured poets and continue to bring award-winning authors to Toronto.
